ChessV Game Reference
Below is an index of the Game classes that are pre-defined in ChessV. The indentation shows the hierarchy.
A game inherits the properties of the games above it in the hierarchy, and can add to or change them.
The game classes in bold are abstract - they are not actual, playable games themselves, but instead provide
common functionality for games derived from them.
For example, Generic Chess provides a standard chess pawn and a royal king.
It has game variables that can be used to activate rules for basic promotion, en passant, and bare king. It can be used
for games of any size. Derived from this is Generic x8, which can be used
for games with 8 ranks and any number of files. It adds the PawnDoubleMove game variable, which, when
set to true, allows pawns on the second rank a double move. Derived from that is
Generic 8x8, for games on an 8x8 board, which adds a game variable called Castling, which can enable
various castling options common on an 8x8 board. And derived from that is Chess,
which is the actual game of Chess. Although Chess is not an abstract class, it can still be used as the
base for other games which are similar, such as Knightmate. When creating
new games, you can derive from anything in this hierarchy that is most convenient.
